Other Prie Dieu Makers

If our models do not meet your tastes, then we are happy to refer you to other makers (but please do let us know how we can improve, too). Following is a list of the few makers that are clearly still producing prayer kneelers (at this time we are providing links only to other known makers). Our comments are accurate as of the time the maker was added to this list:

• Bears Woodshop: A genuine woodworker with a genuine woodshop! Proof that my belief is true: You can never have too many routers. Some assembly required upon receipt.
• Gary Tomlinson: Another woodworker infected by a desire to make kneelers! Nice looking products, more ornate and 'curvy' than our own.
• Kneeler.com: A retired gentleman making some nice kneelers with decent prices. 2+ month wait. All we can say is "he must be gettin' a heckofa deal on oak!"
• St. Joseph's Prayer Kneelers: A more recent addition to the web-array of prie dieu makers. Good prices. Interesting options. But remember, friends don't let friends buy pine kneelers.

Are we going nuts?

Some people might think we've lost our mind in providing links to other kneeler makers. Perhaps. In any event, we're encouraged by the changes we've seen in the kneeler 'market' since we started making them. When we started, a quality kneeler was being advertised for as much as nearly $1000 and lead times were as long as three months.

Now, even the formerly-most-expensive companies have reduced their prices by as much as 50% or more (or have entirely disappeared), lead times have been significantly reduced, and more makers have appeared on the scene producing quality prayer benches. We aren't trying to take credit for this, but merely want to point out the good that is taking place in that it is now possible to purchase a quality, handmade kneeler at a very competitive price and usually receive it within about a month.
